Schwannoma and nerve abscess of leprosy: differential diagnosis.

چکیده
Schwannomas or neurilemomas are the most frequent nerve sheath tumours and could be mistaken for a nerve abscess of leprosy as presented in this case report. These tumours may affect any nerve in the body mainly in the flexor surfaces of limb and nerve trunks, often at origin of spinal or cranial nerves. They usually grow slowly and appear as painless swellings for several years before being diagnosed.

متن کاملTwo unusual nerve abscesses--lepromatous leprosy and pure neural leprosy: case reports.
We report two cases of nerve abscesses, one suffering from lepromatous leprosy (LL) and the other from tuberculoid neural leprosy. Neither had any signs of reactions. Both were untreated cases. Surgical nerve decompression and systemic prednisolone had resolved the nerve abscess in the first case, whereas the second one responded only to surgical nerve decompression. The unusual nature of clini...
